Heaven gained a beautiful soul when Jonnie Mae Cameron, 88, of Paragould, departed peacefully surrounded by family on September 14, 2024 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Arkansas.
Jonnie was born on March 24, 1936 to John and Edna Mae Webb Leonard. She devoted 25 years to a Flint, Michigan grocery store as a cashier. Jonnie was a faithful member of New Haven Baptist Church in Paragould. She enjoyed traveling to new places and getting to see new things. If it wasn’t physical travels, it would be travels in the novel she was reading at the time. Jonnie’s favorite thing to do was spend time with family and play card games with them. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jonnie’s profound faith leaves no doubt that she is dancing on the streets of gold with her beloved husband.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cameron Jr.; her siblings, Lois Williams, Juanita Gore, Paul Leonard; her beloved cousin Deloris and Melvin Emmert; and her father-in-law Charlie Cameron.
Jonnie will be greatly missed by her daughters, Betty Collins of Paragould, Arkansas and Peggy and her husband Stan Chwojnicki of Davison, Michigan; her sister, Sharon and her husband Paul Edmonston of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Karen and her husband Datin Ply of Kingsland, Arkansas, Carmen Collins of Paragould, Arkansas, Lauren and her husband Alex Poston of Lake Orion, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Kadin Ply and Kam Ply of Kingsland, Arkansas; special cousins, Donna Weaver, and Brenda and her husband Dan Turner; special beloved friend LouAnn Foster; and a host of loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We say our earthly goodbyes on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home with Brother Ron Pickney and Brother Howard Huddle officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Stan Chwojnicki, Dan Turner, Datin Ply, Larry Holifield, Kadin Ply and Alex Poston.
