Jonesboro, AR (JonesboroRightNow.com)– February 21, 2024 – The 50th annual Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism will be held Sunday (2/25) through Tuesday (2/27) in Jonesboro. The conference includes sessions on tourism, marketing strategies, the importance of social media, current travel trends and more. Attendees are connected to travel and tourism and come from cities and communities across the entire state.

Jonesboro was awarded the host city for this year’s conference in January of last year after making a presentation to the Arkansas Parks and Tourism Commission and “bidding” on what the city would provide.

The Jonesboro Advertising and Promotions Commission has been instrumental in coordinating the city’s involvement with conference planners. “This conference is a rare opportunity to show all that Jonesboro has to offer,” said Craig Rickert, A&P Executive Director. “We have a city and community to be proud of.”

Conference registration is Sunday afternoon at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Red Wolf Convention Center where most convention activities will be held. Sunday night John Carter Cash, son of the late Johnny Cash, will present a concert along with his wife, Ana Cristina. Conference sessions will be held all day on Monday. Convention attendees will be bussed downtown Monday night for dinner at downtown restaurants at what’s being called “A Taste of Jonesboro.”  Two local excursions are planned for Tuesday morning, including opportunities to visit the City of Jonesboro Shooting Sports Complex and Craighead Forest Park. The conference highlight is the Tourism Henry Awards Banquet on Tuesday night.
