Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – June 24, 2024 – Jonesboro police were dispatched to a neighborhood south of the bypass in reference to a disturbance in progress. Officers pulled up to a house they were familiar with, as this was the third time they’d been called to the address in reference to the behavior of a 16-year-old male.
A 43-year-old man who lived in the house with the teen said that he was throwing bricks at him. The man even had a video of the teen holding big chunks of asphalt and acting like he was going to throw them. A woman in her 40’s, also a resident of the home, explained to the officers that the teen was ranting and raving because he needed a phone charger, but the adults had denied his request.
The teen picked up several chunks of asphalt and began throwing them at the side of the house near where the man was sitting. Officers noted two holes in the siding near the front window. These were big chunks, about the size of an adult hand, big enough to cause serious injury or death. One chunk did hit the man in the stomach, causing a bleeding gash. An 11-year-old that also lived in the house tried to persuade the teen to stop throwing the rocks, but no luck.
The female resident did inform officers that the teen had just gotten back from a stay in a behavioral center in Georgia.
The 16-year-old was arrested, charged with Aggravated Assault on a Family Member and Criminal Mischief. He was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.
