Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – March 2, 2025 – A registered sex offender from Jonesboro is being held on a $75,000 cash-surety bond after police said he failed to comply with reporting his social media usage.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Feb. 26, investigators with the Jonesboro Street Crimes Unit and parole agents went to the 200 block of Hickory Street for a parole search. There, they found 34-year-old Todd Jayce Matthews, of Walnut Ridge, standing on the side of the road.
The affidavit noted that Matthews was known to be on active supervision and a sexual offender from Lawrence County.
While a parole search was being conducted on Matthews, another man, 37-year-old Patrick Reece Moody, came out from a trailer and began speaking to the officers about what was happening to his brother, Matthews.
Moody then said that he was on active probation and a sex offender himself, the affidavit stated.
Parole agents were able to find a smartphone on Moody and discovered he had an active Facebook and Snapchat account, both of which were used the same day. Additionally, they found that Moody had not registered either account with his sex offender officer.
According to the affidavit, Moody said he knew he needed to register the accounts with the officer, but he was too busy to do so. Because of this, Moody was arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.
On Feb. 28, Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Moody with one count of failure to register – failure to comply with reporting requirements. His next court date is scheduled for April 24.
Matthews was also arrested on Feb. 26 for a parole violation. The online jail roster does not show a bond for Matthews.
