Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A Jonesboro man is being held on a $1 million bond after police said he raped a child on multiple occasions.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 18, Jonesboro police officers responded to the St. Bernards emergency room for a sexual assault on a child between the ages of eight and twelve. There, they met the victim and their mother.
The mother explained to police that her boyfriend, 27-year-old Roshawn D. Britt, had sexually assaulted the victim. She said a daycare worker had disclosed that the boyfriend had been touching the child and making them do things.

During an interview on June 19, the victim told police that after the mother would go to work, Britt would come into the victim’s and the victim’s sibling’s room, wake them up, and make them put what they described as “grease” on. The affidavit noted that the “grease” described was Vaseline.
When it was the victim’s turn, Britt would make the victim go into his room, remove their clothes, and put the petroleum jelly on various parts of their body, including their chest, belly, back, and genital area.
The victim went on to say that Britt would place a blanket over the victim’s head and start touching them inappropriately, with Britt making the victim grab his hand to do so.
The affidavit details two more incidents involving the victim being sexually assaulted by Britt. In one of those incidents, the victim claimed that Britt told them not to tell what happened and that if they did, he would hurt them.
Britt was arrested and booked into the Craighead County Detention Center on June 26, according to the jail roster. On June 29, he appeared before District Judge David Boling, who found probable cause to charge him with one class Y felony: Rape/person less than 14 years of age.
As a condition of the bond, Britt was ordered to have no contact with the victim and wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.
Britt’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 30. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
