Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — May 15, 2025 — A Jonesboro man is being held on a $500,000 bond after being accused of sexually assaulting a child.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on April 28, the victim and their guardian reported to the victim’s school that 46-year-old Jose Manuel Alvarez-Interiano had been touching them inappropriately.
On May 13, the victim was forensically interviewed and said Alvarez-Interiano had touched them inappropriately in multiple places while staying at a family member’s house and provided a specific location in the home where this happened. These encounters dated back to 2024, the affidavit said.
Detectives later made contact with a witness at Alvarez-Interiano’s address, confirming he lived in Jonesboro. According to the affidavit, they were allowed inside the home and observed the location where the assaults took place, finding it consistent with the victim’s statements.
On May 13, Alvarez-Interiano was interviewed under Miranda rights and provided details about his encounters with the victim that were consistent with their statements. He also made other incriminating statements, the affidavit said, although he reportedly “denied touching [the] Victim in a sexual manner.”
While standing before Judge David Boling on Wednesday, state prosecutors said Alvarez-Interiano was a Mexican citizen and requested a $1 million bond. His lawyer, Mark Rees, requested a $100,000 bond. Boling set bond at $500,000 cash or surety, and noted Alvarez-Interiano has an immigration hold. Alvarez-Interiano will be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor and was given a no-contact order with the victim.
Alvarez-Interiano was charged with one count of second degree sexual assault, a Class B felony. His next court date is set for June 27. He’s being held in the Craighead County Detention Center.
