Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 19, 2025 – A Jonesboro man was charged with 10 felonies after officers arrested him as part of a five-month investigation into his alleged drug operation that involved selling meth.

Judge Chris Thyer found probable cause on Tuesday to charge 40-year-old Luther Jones with four counts of trafficking a controlled substance, one count of delivery of meth or cocaine greater than 10 grams but less than 200 grams, five counts of use of a communication device, and one count of distribution near certain facilities.

According to the probable cause affidavit, agents with the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration had been conducting an investigation from February 2024 to July 2024 regarding Jones’s drug operation involving the sale of meth.

Agents conducted five controlled buys over that period, with four of the buys taking place at Jones’s home. During those four buys, Jones sold the confidential informant 907 grams, 459 grams, 452 grams and 459 grams of meth, respectively. The affidavit said Jones communicated when to meet for the buys using his phone.

Jones’s home is 530 feet away from Refuge Church and 681 feet from Saint Paul United Methodist Church, the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, Jones met with another agent and sold them 56 grams of meth, with the buy taking place 399 feet from Southwest Church of Christ and 636 feet from the Jonesboro YMCA.

Jones was arrested Feb. 13 at 10:38 a.m. and is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center.

He was given a $150,000 cash or surety bond and must wear an ankle monitor if he bonds out. His next court date is March 20.
