Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 30, 2024 – A Jonesboro man was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree domestic battery.
Aaron Robinson, 24, received a three-year suspended sentence for the charge.
On Feb. 14, JPD officers were sent to Links Circle about a 2-year-old boy with burns to his back and buttocks. The child and his 5-year-old brother were left in the care of their mother’s boyfriend, Robinson.
Robinson told police that he put the two boys in the shower to rinse off and the older boy must have turned the water to hot. Medical experts said a shower’s hot water couldn’t have caused the burns that the boy suffered. The boy also had a tear to his liver and a punctured lung, according to a probable cause affidavit by Jonesboro police Detective Christopher Pigg.
Two days later Robinson was interviewed again.
“Robinson first stated that the two pots of vegetable oil that were on the stove were not involved in any way. He later changed his statement, saying that at approximately 11 to 11:30 he was in the kitchen cooking fish and fries in the vegetable oil on the stove. At approximately 12:00, Robinson started making several phone calls to family members in reference to the burns on the child’s back and butt,” according to the affidavit.
