Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Oct. 24, 2024 – Jonesboro police officers were recently patrolling North Patrick when they saw a black BMW backed into a handicapped spot.

Three young men were in the BMW and another one was standing next to it. The smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle was strong, so officers got conducted a vehicle search.

They found a gun in the back floorboard that was covered with a jacket, and a plastic bag with marijuana in it. One suspect, who had been a convicted felon since 2022, was asked to place his hands behind his back. Instead, he tried to run. K9 officer Frost caught up with the suspect, although he continued to fight the K9 and the officer before finally being handcuffed.

In the backseat, there was a set of keys to a Nissan. Officers determined it was the Altima parked right beside the BMW. They ran the plates and learned that the vehicle belonged to the suspect, so officers searched it, too, and found a bottle of Hydrocodone and a digital scale with marijuana residue on it. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment because of his encounter with the K9 and then transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.

He received multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by certain persons, possession of drugs and firearms, possession of cocaine with purpose to deliver, fleeing, resisting arrest and more.

His bond was set at $250,000 c/s and he was given a court date of Nov. 25 at 8:30 a.m.
