Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – A Jonesboro man faces multiple charges after police linked him to a shooting earlier this month that court documents say escalated from an attempt to intimidate a witness.

District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause on Oct. 22 to charge 19-year-old Jaderius Eugene Hare with terroristic act (occupiable structure), a class B felony, aggravated assault, a class D felony, intimidating a witness, a class B felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class A misdemeanor.

According to the affidavit, on Oct. 6, a female victim reported that a male suspect pointed a handgun at her after he was confronted about his brother stealing a firearm from her apartment. Two days later, officers responded to an apartment complex on Caraway Road for reports of shots fired. There, officers found a shooting victim.

Police said the incident involved an argument that escalated into a gunfight between three men, including Hare. The same woman from Oct. 6 said Hare and the second man were outside her apartment, antagonizing her due to previous issues. She called the third man to help resolve the situation, but once he arrived, all three men began arguing in the parking lot.

The affidavit said one of the men had a handgun, while Hare had his hand on his waistband, suggesting he was also armed. Once the argument escalated, the men began shooting at each other. However, it was unclear who first drew a weapon.

Police said Hare and the second man were found in a nearby apartment. Hare was initially taken into custody, while the second man was taken for medical attention but was later discharged before an arrest was made. It was soon discovered that Hare had also been shot, so he was rushed to the hospital.

In a Mirandized interview, the third man said he was acting in self-defense, which was partially supported by video showing him appearing calm and holding his firearm down at his side, while telling Hare and the second man they needed to leave. The third man said Hare and the second man came to his home specifically to retaliate against him and the female victim for having filed a police report for aggravated assault.

The affidavit said the third man turned over a Snapchat message he got from the second man, which contained a photo of a man dressed in clothing identical to what the second man was wearing when police later contacted him after the shooting. The photo included a caption featuring a rat icon and the text, “All [rat icon]s going to die.”

The third man provided a detailed account of the shooting, saying he was standing outside his door while Hare and the second man were in the parking lot nearby. He said Hare pointed a small handgun at him, prompting the second man to tell Hare to “do it.”

The third man told police that Hare ran toward him with the handgun, grabbed him, and attempted to strike him with the weapon. In response, the third man pulled his handgun out, firing a shot, and striking Hare. The third man said that the second man then began shooting at him, and the third man shot back at him, with one of his bullets hitting the second man in the leg.

Hare was arrested Oct. 20 by Craighead County deputies and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Fowler noted that this was Hare’s third arrest this year and had a felony failure to appear charge. For these reasons, a bond of $150,000 cash/surety was set. In addition to this bond, Hare was ordered to have no contact with the victim and wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.

Hare’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 16.
