Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 20, 2025 — Police arrested a Jonesboro man after they said he left the scene of a golf cart crash with injuries.
According to an affidavit, on June 8, Jonesboro police officers responded to Sage Meadows for a crash. There, they found two people hurt, one of whom was taken to the hospital for injuries to his head, right hand, and back. The other person had a broken ankle and fingers.
Police said the golf cart and its driver, 37-year-old Ryan Scott Childers, were not at the scene when officers arrived. Victims told officers that Childers and six other people got on the golf cart and left the clubhouse to get more alcohol at Childers’ home.
The affidavit said that during the trip, Childers began driving recklessly, causing one of the passengers to yell at him to stop. After this, Childers abruptly turned the golf cart’s wheel hard in one direction, then immediately steered in the opposite direction, causing the cart to flip and throwing two people out of it while Childers was pinned.
According to the affidavit, once the cart was lifted off him, Childers ran off without checking on the two people who were hurt. He returned later to get his cell phone and keys before leaving again before the officers arrived, the affidavit said.
On June 20, Craighead County Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Childers with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.
Childers is currently out on bond, awaiting his next court appearance on July 31.
A photo of Childers was not available on the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office website.
