Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 11, 2024 – A Jonesboro man was arrested by Paragould police early Tuesday morning after he was found inside a vehicle with stolen IDs and credit/debit cards, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Tavares D. Harris, 25, was arrested after police were called about suspicious persons. According to the affidavit by Detective Sgt. Jacob L. Higdon, one male wearing all black clothing and carrying a black backpack was seen bent over the back seat of a Kia Optima in a vacant lot. When police arrived, he fled. The other male, Harris, was found sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Harris is on active probation with a search waiver. Inside the vehicle, officers found multiple identification cards and credit/debit cards belonging to local individuals, the affidavit said.
A district judge found probable cause to charge Harris with two counts of theft of property, breaking or entering a vehicle and possession of a handgun by certain persons, all class D felonies. His bond was set at $50,000.
