Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 8, 2024 – Jonesboro police officers arrested a 67-year-old man Wednesday after he was found with drugs.
On Nov. 6, officers with the Street Crimes Unit were patrolling the area around N. Church Street and Pecan Street when they observed two people meet in the parking lot of a laundromat on 103 E. Forrest St. As the two began walking away from the business, officers began speaking to them, in which they discovered one of the men was on active probation with a signed search waiver.
An officer removed a black bag from the man, in which he found eight grams of suspected meth, 47 suspected Clonazepam pills, and around four grams of marijuana. Officers also found a bag of rolling papers and a digital scale with meth residue.
According to the probable cause affidavit, officers then requested that the man unlock his phone, per terms of his probation. They found three separate text message chains in which the main was reportedly attempting to sell the Clonazepam pills and marijuana between Nov. 4 to Nov. 6. They also found photos of what appeared to be meth on a digital scale in the man’s photos.
The man was charged with one count of possession of meth or cocaine with purpose to deliver, one count of use of a communication device, one count of possession of a Schedule IV or V drug with purpose to deliver, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The man was given a court date of Dec. 16 at 8:30 a.m. and a bond of $15,000 cash or surety. He is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center.
