Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 25, 2025 – Jonesboro police recently responded to a domestic disturbance call near University Loop and Academic Corner.
The victim told officers that her boyfriend, 27-year-old Marcus Williams, had assaulted her at their apartment on Rogers Street. She said they had been in a verbal argument that got physical.
Allegedly, Williams hit her in the back of the head. At that point, she took out her phone and started recording Williams, which made him angrier. He grabbed her phone and began choking her to the point where she couldn’t breathe.
A witness tried pulling Williams off of her but couldn’t. He then slammed her head into the wall several times before he let her go, the affidavit said. He left the residence, and the victim climbed out of a back room window and contacted police.
Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a household member. Officers learned that he’d already been in another domestic incident in 2022, so domestic battery (2nd offense) was added to his charges.
His bond was set at $75,000 cash/surety and his court date of Feb. 28. He’s being held in the Craighead County Detention Center.
