Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — May 27, 2025 — A Jonesboro man has been accused of grooming a child under 14 years of age.

While standing before Judge Barbara Halsey on Tuesday, Kevyn Bowen was charged with one count of sexually grooming a child, a Class D felony.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on May 21, a juvenile victim was forensically interviewed about a family member, whom they identified as Bowen, communicating with them in a sexual manner. The victim said they had been communicating sexually since 2024, with Bowen sending pornography to their phone.

The victim disclosed details and dates about sexual conversations they had, with the majority of them being via text. The affidavit said Bowen would show the victim sex toys and pornography while at his home, and that he bought sex toys and alcohol for the victim as a birthday gift in 2024.

The affidavit also said Bowen brought another juvenile to the victim’s home for sexual activity. Detectives processed Bowen’s phone and found text messages that confirmed what the victim had told them. They determined the victim was under 14 years of age when the messages were sent and also recovered a sex toy Bowen purchased for the victim, the affidavit said.

Judge Tommy Fowler signed a bench warrant on May 23, and Bowen was taken into custody the same day. On May 23, detectives conducted a Mirandized interview with Bowen, who “admitted to communicating with [the] Victim in a sexual manner and also other incriminating statements,” the affidavit said.

Bowen had already been released on a temporary bond. Halsey set bail at $25,000 cash or surety, and is ordered to have no unsupervised contact with minors. His next court date is June 27.
