Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 22, 2024 – A Jonesboro man choked his wife until she was unconscious, police said.
On Nov. 20, Jonesboro police responded to a domestic violence incident at a home on Thorn Street. Officers made contact with the wife of 45-year-old David Shook, who had a small cut near her right eye, and a floor burn mark in the center of her forehead. She also had a cut behind her left ear and bruises on her arms and legs.
The victim told officers Shook became angry around 9 p.m. on Nov. 19, and he held her down and choked her until she became unconscious. Afterward, she said Shook stayed outside and then left.
Shook came to the Jonesboro Police Department for an interview Nov. 21, which he agreed to speak with officers without a lawyer present after being read his Miranda rights. In the interview, Shook admitted to injuring his wife and choking her, according to his probable cause affidavit.
Shook is charged with one count of aggravated assault on a family or household member, which is a Class D felony. He was given a $35,000 cash or surety bond and is ordered to have no contact with the victim. His court date is set for Jan. 24, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.
