Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 5, 2025 – The Kiwanis of Greater Jonesboro will hold its 83rd annual “Pop” Stricklin Pancake Day, the club’s primary fund-raiser, in early March.
The event will take place March 1, from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 710 Southwest Drive. It began in 1940 and, with the exception of 2021 when it was canceled due to the pandemic, has taken place every year since.
Ralph “Pop” Stricklin was a prominent and longtime member of the Kiwanis of Greater Jonesboro Club. He was also the supervisor of maintenance for the Carl R. Reng Center at Arkansas State University for many years and served on the Jonesboro City Council for more than 30 years. Stricklin died in 2002.
Tickets will be $7 per person when purchased in advance from any member of the Kiwanis Club or $9 at the door on the day of the event. Children six and under eat free.
According to a post on the club’s Facebook page, Pancake Day has long been a popular civic club fundraiser in Northeast Arkansas with more than 2,000 tickets sold in 2024. Because of this fundraiser, Kiwanis has awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships to help area high school graduates in their first year of college at Arkansas State University.
There will be three scholarships given out this year, each totaling $3,000.
