This reflects a one-cent drop from $4.00 a week ago, though still higher than $3.78 a month ago. At this time last year, drivers across the state were paying an average of $2.70 per gallon.

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline dropped five cents over the past week to $4.36, but pump prices remain at record highs for autumn. In fact, this marks the first year the national average has been above $4 per gallon in the month of October.
While crude oil prices dipped into the $80 per barrel range for several days, they have since bounced back above $90 per barrel. Additionally, AAA noted that Hurricane Isaias is an emerging factor that could further affect gas prices if oil production and regional refineries are impacted.
