Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 7, 2024 – Last September, Jonesboro Fire Department Captain Morgan Walling received news from his Doctor that he needed a kidney transplant.
His wife posted the need on Facebook where they quickly received “thoughts and prayers” comments from hundreds of friends and family.

One sentiment, however, stood out among the rest. Morgan told JRN that his coworker, JFD Captain Brittany Milligan, texted him with an immediate “What do I need to do?”
Fast forward several months and several tests, Morgan and Brittany found themselves on a journey that they’d never soon forget.
Several friends and family offered to be “tested” as a match for Morgan’s transplant. Rather than testing in batches, they are processed one at a time and ruled out.
Luck would have it that Brittany was the second person tested. Their blood type matched. Then their antigens matched. Then their health scores matched. Brittany and Morgan’s kidneys ended up being, more or less, a perfect fit!

When speaking about Brittany’s incredibly selfless act, Morgan said “This is just the type of person she is. She saw the post and texted me within like 2 minutes. She wanted to know what she could do to help.” He went on to say that it was humbling to have so many people willing to help him.
Brittany is the first female Captain at the Jonesboro Fire Department, Walling has been a Captain for 11 years.
Their surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at UT Methodist in Memphis.
They are both expected to return to work at JFD within 6 weeks.
