Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — May 6, 2025 — The Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce has invited Jonesboro residents to bike their way to deals this summer with a health-conscious initiative: the Chamber Pedal Pass.

This community-wide initiative is intended to promote biking, share bike safety tips, and shine a spotlight on the local bike community and businesses, according to the vice president of chamber programs, Cody Slater.

“Anybody paying attention is pretty aware at this point of cycling growth and that’s nationwide, certainly statewide, and definitely in our region, now you are seeing more and more races, and more and more interest than that,” Slater said. “It is something that the chamber really wants to support and help grow in the area.”

While this is the Chamber’s first attempt at getting involved in and understanding more about the sport and the people, Slater said the fact that the Skirmish festival is coming up at the end of the month will help.

“We can co-brand, co-partner and help to raise awareness about that event and cycling,” Slater said. “Cycling’s going to be a thing, and we want to be prepared to assist with it and do anything that we can in that area.”

According to Slater, the initiative will also help to build traffic for many local businesses.

“Especially in the summertime… the restaurants, service industries, whatever the case is,” he said. “People are going on vacations, they’re going to ball tournaments and so anytime that we can help drive traffic to those services, restaurants, and retail industries, that’s another plus for us and we think this will accomplish all of those goals.”

To register, people can scan a QR code found on the Chamber’s Facebook page, which will continue to be posted on the Chamber’s social media channels.

“It’s not just for Chamber members. Anyone in the community can sign up to do this,” Slater said. “They’ll scan that code. It’ll take you to the standard form and you’ll type in your name, what your cycling interests are, and where you live.”

After riders register, they can visit the Chamber, located at 1709 E. Nettleton Ave., and receive their official Chamber Pedal Pass sticker to put on their helmets. Stickers are already available.

These stickers will then be used throughout the summer through the end of July. The riders who show their sticker at participating businesses will receive a special discount or perk; however, these specials will be at the discretion of the business itself. Participants will qualify other giveaways awarded throughout the campaign.

Slater said they hope to post a comprehensive business list by the end of the week, which will be added to as more businesses join.

“If people are interested, they can check back with our business listings,” Slater said. “We hope that once businesses see the energy around it, that a lot more will jump in, but we have a good starting point base. We’re very happy and excited.”
