Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 5, 2025 – Jonesboro police received a report on Jan. 15 about the theft of nine AC units from a church.

The Refuge Church of the Assemblies of God on Stone Street provided video footage of the suspect truck, a white single-cab Chevrolet pickup with a plate on the front and a silver toolbox in the bed.

The Real-Time Intelligence Center located the suspect vehicle. RTIC confirmed the suspect vehicle drove east on Race past Allen Park. Officers searched the area and located a vehicle that matched the suspect vehicle at a residence on Willow.

Two people, a man and a woman, were frequent drivers of the truck. And they had something else in common: scrapping metals. They both have scrapped ACR (air conditioning refrigerant) which is a component of AC units.

During a search, several AC units and AC unit components were discovered, but according to the affidavit, they were so damaged they could not be linked to the church theft. But the man offered a confession during an interview. He told detectives that he did take some of the units from the church, but not all nine.

He’s been charged with theft and given a court date of March 20. His bond was set at $15,000 cash/surety.
