Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 25, 2024 – The Jonesboro Economical Transportation System (JETS) will be providing free rides to and from certain polling locations during early voting and on Election Day for the Jonesboro mayoral runoff.
Early voting begins Nov. 26 and ends Dec. 2. There will be no early voting on Thanksgiving Day or on Saturday, Nov. 30. Citizens can vote at the Craighead County Election Annex from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For early voting, riders will be picked up and dropped off at the bus stop on Washington Avenue in front of the Jonesboro City Justice Complex, as this is the closest stop to the election annex.
On Election Day, voters can choose from one of the five polling centers already within JETS’ daily routes:
- Allen Park Community Center (route 53)
- A-State 1st National Bank Arena – yellow entrance – go to the JETS Fowler Center stop (route 17) OR Embassy Suites stop (route 53)
- Craighead County Courthouse – go to JETS’ Jonesboro Justice Complex stop (blue route)
- Earl Bell Community Center (blue route)
- Parker Park Community Center (blue route)
Complimentary rides will also be available on Election Day from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Polls are open until 7:30 p.m., but JETS service ends at 7 p.m. Voters are asked to plan accordingly.
The runoff will be between incumbent Mayor Harold Copenhaver and City Councilperson L.J. Bryant, Ward 5, Position 1. According to unofficial election results, Copenhaver received 44.11% of the vote and Bryant 34.14%.
