Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — March 19, 2025 —During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver issued a proclamation honoring the city’s public transit employees.

Lee Wells, director of transit for Jonesboro Economic Transportation (JET) plus five JET employees were present at the proclamation. Tuesday, March 18 was National Transit Employee Appreciation Day.

During the proclamation, Copenhaver said around 100,000 people had used the JET transportation system in 2024 and thanked the employees for their dedication.

“JET transit employees play a vital role in connecting our community to jobs, schools, healthcare and essential services, thereby enhancing the quality of life in Jonesboro for all,” Copenhaver said. “All JET transit employees, including drivers, dispatchers, mechanics and office personnel are dedicated to providing a smooth and reliable experience allowing passengers to travel with confidence.”

Copenhaver concluded by proclaiming March 18, 2025, as Jonesboro Transit Employee Day.

In addition to the proclamation, the City of Jonesboro’s official Facebook page celebrated National Transit Employee Appreciation Day and thanked JET employees.

“Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community do not go unnoticed,” the post said. “From ensuring safe travels for our passengers to being the friendly faces that greet them every day, you make a difference in the lives of everyone who rides the bus.”
