Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – A member of the inaugural class at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University has returned to his alma mater to serve as an assistant professor in the school’s department of clinical medicine.
Landon Jackson, D.O., M.S., joined NYITCOM at A-State in August as an assistant professor of clinical medicine. In his new role, Jackson is teaching first- and second- year medical students in the classroom and will serve as a preceptor for third- and fourth- year students through his surgical practice at St. Bernards Medical Center.

“When we cast the vision for our medical school, Dr. Jackson was exactly the type of physician we hoped to train,” said Shane Speights, D.O., dean of NYITCOM at A-State. “He’s a leader who has a heart for his patients, his community, and for the next generation of physicians he’s going to teach and mentor. We could not be more thrilled to have him join our team.”
A native of Greenbrier, Jackson joined NYITCOM at A-State’s first class in 2016 after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas. In addition to earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, he also participated in the med school’s academic scholars program, through which he earned a Master of Science in academic medicine.
Upon graduating from NYITCOM, Jackson completed his residency in general surgery at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa.

Jackson becomes the first NYITCOM at A-State alumnus to serve as a full-time faculty member at the Jonesboro-based medical school.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to return to NYITCOM at A-State to begin my career,” Jackson said. “The education and training that I received here was exceptional and I am extremely proud to call myself an alumnus and now faculty member.”
