UPDATE JUNE 18:

According to a Facebook post from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Arkansas State Crime Lab positively identified the remains found near Lake Ashbaugh as those of Jessica Paige Kemp. It added that an autopsy was performed by the crime lab, but results are still pending.

Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder said no further information would be released at the time.

Greene County, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 10, 2025 — The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after skeletal remains were found near Lake Ashbaugh.

According to Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder, one of the department’s deputies and a civilian search party member were searching an area southwest of Lake Ashbaugh around 1:45 p.m.

“They encountered a strong smell commonly associated with decomposition,” the sheriff said in a news release posted to Facebook. “Upon further searching, the detective located skeletal remains in a very advanced state of decomposition.”

The Greene County Coroner’s Office will send the remains to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for examination and positive identification. Snyder added that members of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division, Company F, are on the scene in an assisting role.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department remains the lead agency in the investigation.

Synder added that no further details would be released until more information was learned from the Arkansas State Crime Lab.
