Greene County, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A Rector woman is facing a felony battery charge following an investigation into an incident at a local child care facility.
Nola Burney, of Rector, has been charged with one count of second-degree battery, a Class D felony, according to an arrest warrant affidavit filed July 27 in Greene County District Court.

According to the affidavit, officers responded to AR Kids in Paragould on July 27 in reference to a report of child abuse. Upon arrival, officers spoke with staff and parents, who reported that Burney had dragged a 4-year-old child down a hallway by the child’s ankle.
Investigating officers gathered documentation and video footage from the facility showing Burney dragging the young child down the hallway on the afternoon of July 24.
When officers subsequently made contact with the child at a local residence, they observed small bruises around both of the child’s ankles.
A judge determined there was probable cause for an arrest warrant on July 27. Burney’s bond was set at $100,000. As conditions of release, she was ordered to have no contact with the victim or witnesses involved in the case.
