Hardy, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 4, 2025 — The City of Hardy has appointed an interim police chief following the arrest of its former chief, Scott Rose.
Rose was arrested in Jonesboro Monday night on multiple felony charges, including second degree sexual assault and sexual indecency with a child. He was briefly held in the Sharp County Detention Center before being transferred to the Independence County Jail.
In a news release posted to Facebook Tuesday night, the City of Hardy said it was aware of Rose’s recent arrest and was taking steps to terminate Rose’s employment “effective immediately.”
The City also said it appointed Michael Himschoot to be interim police chief.
“We have full confidence in his ability to uphold the values of accountability, professionalism, and community engagement,” the news release said. “We appreciate the continued trust and patience of our community as we work toward a stable and effective future for public safety in Hardy.”
Rose was named as Hardy’s police chief in 2016. He worked at the Jonesboro Police Department for 12 years before that.
