Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 31, 2024 – Back in 2023, 48-year-old Bennie Ross was arrested for the 1st Degree Murder of his wife. He received a $3 Million bond and has been in the custody of the Craighead County Detention Center since then.

53-year-old Edward Huff was also incarcerated in April of this year for several charges including felony fleeing, possession of controlled substances, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing governmental operations, resisting arrest, and more. He received a $100,000 bond for these charges.

While in jail, both men were charged with Tampering with a Witness this week.
During a recorded call made from inside the Craighead County Jail, both men were heard attempting to sway a witness to the 2023 murder to not testify.
Ross used the telephone inside their cell block to call his brother. During the recorded call, Ross can be heard trying to talk his brother into not supplying all of his testimony concerning Ross and his pending murder charge. Ross tries to convince his brother and his brother’s wife that the prosecutors will try to twist his words around.
Huff, another inmate in the same cell block, got on the phone and also tried to convince Ross’ brother to “plea the 5th” and not testify against Ross.
Ross and Huff went before Judge Fowler today for probable cause hearings.
Both men had a bond set at $25,000 cash only, in addition to their original bonds of $3,000,000 and $100,000, respectively.
Ross’ 2023 Murder Probable Cause document states:
On Friday morning January 27, 2023 at approximately 2:51 a.m., Craighead County Deputy Sheriff’s were dispatched to 116 Craighead County Road 457 in reference to a welfare check on a female. A caller had advised E-911 dispatch that a male subject identified as Bennie Ross stated that he had shot and killed his wife in the bathroom of their residence and that he was headed back to the residence with a firearm and possibly be involved in a shootout with Law Enforcement. At approximately 3:01 a,m. Deputy Sheriff’s arrived at the residence and made entry into the residence through the open garage. Once inside the residence. Deputies were able to clear the residence of an active threat and locate the body of a deceased white female, later identified as Susan Michelle Ross, in the master bathroom floor area of the residence. Deputies exited the residence and alerted the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the incident. Upon awaiting for arrival of CID Officers, Deputies observed Bennie Ross arrive back at the residence and drive a vehicle through the front yard area prior to exiting the vehicle armed with a firearm and proceed into the residence. Mr. Ross was taken into custody a short time later. A search warrant was sought and executed at the residence and the vehicle Mr. Ross was driving shortly after the alleged incident. During the subsequent searches, firearms were located inside the vehicle and residence, both of which were processed as part of the crime scene. Bennie Ross was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a probable cause hearing.
