Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 10, 2024 – A 20-year-old Jonesboro man was arrested Tuesday morning after he stabbed another homeless man with a screwdriver, according to a Jonesboro police report.

Tanner Chase Thomas Bobbitt is accused of stabbing the 66-year-old victim in the back at the intersection of Front and North Fisher streets, the report said. The victim was taken to Northeast Arkansas Baptist Memorial Hospital to be treated for a stab wound to the back.

The report by Sgt Joe Robinson said the stabbing occurred on the railroad tracks behind the Salvation Army building.

While interviewing Bobbitt, Det Brandon Butler said Bobbitt claimed that the victim had struck his heel with a machete.

“Upon viewing and photographing [Bobbitt]’s heels I could tell that [his] heels had blisters on them consistent with footwear rubbing against his heels,” Butler wrote. “The marks on his heels were not made from a machete striking him. [Bobbitt] did have a small cut on the left side of his face and abrasions on his back, which were all photographed.”

Bobbitt is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond on suspicion of second-degree battery, a class C felony.
