Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug 20, 2024 – JPD officers responded to a motor vehicle accident with injury near Red Wolf and King on Friday. Upon arrival, officers observed an 18-year-old male victim laying in the road next to a motorcycle and another victim standing nearby a car.

Officers spoke with the second victim who stated that a white truck hit the motorcycle which, in turn, hit him. The victim also advised police that the driver of the white truck left the scene immediately after the incident.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained major injuries and was flown to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis. Later reports indicate that he has a concussion, road rash, bruising, and a shattered left kneecap resulting in emergency surgery.

Officers were able to obtain footage of the incident from nearby businesses and saw the suspect truck park at the “back” of the Target parking lot after the incident. The suspect then walked to the AT&T and Hiro area.

The next day, officers went to these businesses to attempt to gather more security footage. While at AT&T, officers made contact with employee Russell Scott who was identified as the driver of the white truck.

He told police that he was scared after the accident and left the scene.

Scott’s truck was located in the old David’s Bridal parking lot and was towed.

Scott was arrested and taken to CCDC. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury.
