Bono, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug 1, 2024 – First reported by JonesboroRightNow on Sunday, the Air Force will land a C-130 on Bono Highway 63 this weekend.

ARDOT has announced road closures for the highway beginning at midnight on Sunday and running through “mid-morning” for the military training exercise.

ARDOT says, “Weather permitting, the U.S. Air Force will use Highway 63 as a temporary airstrip to land military aircraft.”

Highway 203 from CR 137 to Hwy 63B will also be closed during the same timeframe.

The training exercise could be moved up to Saturday, August 3, if inclement weather is predicted Sunday.

Traffic will be controlled with the use of barrels, barricades, and signage.

The U.S. Air Force is coordinating with the Arkansas Department of Transportation, local law enforcement, and emergency agencies to conduct the highway closure safely and with minimal disruption to the community.

For the safety of the public and military personnel conducting the exercise, the public is asked to not gather or attempt to approach the area.
