Hello, Jonesboro. Let me introduce myself, in case you don’t already know me. My name is Bethany Davis and I am a Jonesboro native.
Growing up, I graduated from Brookland High School, and I followed a career path that led me to Physical Therapy school. While physical therapy is something that I still practice, the health and wellness world has interested me since 2016, when I realized how impacted I was by the food that I ate, my mental state, and who (and what information) I surrounded myself with.
After going plant-based in 2017 and becoming yoga certified in 2015, I have been on a journey to spread the mission of health and wellness with others, showing and guiding people on how to incorporate health and well-being practices into their own daily life by spreading information that I love.
Many of us shy away from parts of ourselves because we don’t know who we really are, but the only way to discover who we really are is to know what it’s like to be well. We have to clear the slate, get down to basics, and treat our bodies and minds in such a way that we can truly live presently, clearly, and happily.
Health and Wellness is so much more than a fad or a trend, it’s a lifestyle, a lifestyle that I hope to help you incorporate by giving you tools, insight, and real connections and stories from others.
My four pillars of health were cemented into me after a car accident in 2021, where I had to physically heal myself from several fractures and relearn to walk. I already knew the power of food, which had healed many of my own personal ailments that medication couldn’t.
I knew the power of movement as a physical therapist and from years of running. I knew the power of mindset/meditation from practicing, then teaching, yoga for several years, and I knew the power of connection in my own community/friend groups. It was when I couldn’t walk that I took the deepest dive into these four pillars and used them to heal myself, which was the hardest and best journey I’ve ever been on (and is what led me here to connect with all of you readers).
In this column to be published every week you can expect tips, advice, information, and stories on those four pillars: food/nutrition, mindfulness/meditation, mindful movement practices, and community.
I will be covering a wide array of topics, but I think that is what keeps it interesting. My passion for sharing health and wellness will be obvious, but I aim to give you pieces that help you to become the healthiest and happiest version of yourself. Whether we are discussing organic foods, alternative healing methods, or simply the benefits of sunlight and cryotherapy, I hope that this is a column that you look forward to weekly, as growth and knowledge are the best assets we have.
Be well, Jonesboro. I’ll see you each Wednesday.
