JonesboroRightNow.com, an online news service, was launched by the Jonesboro Media Group on April 2, 2024. It is one of 16 community news sites in markets served by Jonesboro Media Group’s parent company, Saga Communications.
“Honestly, I didn’t think I would ever see a live, active, working newsroom inside one of my radio stations again in my career,” said Trey Stafford, President/General Manager of the Jonesboro Media Group. “Radio companies have slowly eliminated news staffs over the last 25 years. JonesboroRightNow.com has returned a real newsroom to our building and I couldn’t be more excited.”
Stafford said he wanted to thank the advertisers that took a blind chance on the new product a year ago. “We sold out our presenting and community sponsors before we ever launched,” Stafford said. “To me, it was a testament of what business owners believed about the need for another strong news product in our city. We appreciate the support we have received from day one.”
Rachel Rudd serves as Editor-in-Chief of JonesboroRightNow.com. Nena Zimmer is Chief Reporter. Brett Barber, Trey Stafford, Jody Barker and Brayden Parnell are contributing writers.
“Yes, JonesboroRightNow.com covers breaking stories and crime,” Stafford said. “But I love the variety of stories our team writes and reports. A community the size of Jonesboro needs multiple efforts reporting on things happening in the town. JonesboroRightNow.com has given our community a great option.”
JonesboroRightNow.com was recently admitted as a member of the Arkansas Press Association, a club traditionally made up of members from the printed press. “The board of the APA recognizes the role we are playing and the service we are providing in Jonesboro,” Stafford said. “We were honored the APA board welcomed us as an APA member.”
