Georgia Rae Pierce, 93, of Pocahontas passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida at the home of her daughter.
Georgia was born August 10, 1931 in Supply to the late Hannas Lehman and Lois Irene Pond. She was a homemaker. Georgia lived in Rockford, IL for many years before she and Arkie returned to Pocahontas in 1988 to retire. In Rockford she was a member of North Park Church of Christ and after moving to Pocahontas she was a member of Pyburn Street Church of Christ. Georgia taught ceramics classes and ran a ceramics business out of her home for several years. She was involved in the Red Hatters and the Pocahontas Working Women’s Club.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Hannas and Lois Pond; husband of 73 years, Coleman “Arkie” Pierce; son, Lanny Pierce; an infant daughter; and sisters, Vada Duff, Margaret Jones, Charlene White, and Saundra Haley; and great-great granddaughter, Maizy Grass.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Sherry (David) Schonborg of Fort Walton Beach, FL; son, James L. Pierce of Machesney Park, IL; daughter-in-law, Barbara Grimsby of Pocahontas; five grandchildren, Matthew Pierce of Machesney Park, IL, Nicole (Timothy) Robinson of Kyle, TX, Troy (Kimberlee) Pierce of Austin, TX, Travis (Emily) Pierce of Boulder, CO, and Tasha Grass of Machesney Park, IL; seven great grandchildren, Carter Pierce of Machesney Park, IL, Alyssa Pierce of Orlando, FL, Alexa Dunn of West Virginia, Katie Robinson of Kyle, TX, Ana Robinson of Kyle, TX, Seth Grass of Machesney Park, IL, and Lena Palumbo of Machesney Park, IL; two great-great grandsons, Elijah and Judah Dunn of West Virginia; sister, Robbie (Tom) Simington of St. Charles, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
All services will be Saturday, November 16, 2024 in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM with Charles Carrens and Joshua Dement officiating. Burial will follow in Ingram Cemetery.
