Gay Glidewell Tate, 89, of Jonesboro, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Dryden, AR., on October 22, 1934, to Henry and Pearl Glidewell. Ms. Tate was a member of Forrest Home Church of the Nazarene. She spent much of her life working in the nursing profession. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking, shopping, yard work, reading her Bible, and most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, her husband of 56 years, Evert ”Junior” Tate; son, Michael Tate; her parents, along with three brothers, Bill Glidewell, Ray Glidewell, Gerald Glidewell; a dear grandson in law, Nathan Stallings.
Ms. Tate leaves behind a son, Danny (Kim) Tate; daughter, Phyllis Armstrong (Gary Eaker); sister, Joy (Larry) Self, all of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Crystal (Greg) Crocker, April Stallings, Paige (Brad) Bobo, Jessica (Greg) Peck, Christopher Armstrong, Tiffany Tate, and Tamara Cox; 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Friday, August 30, 2024, 11:00 am, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington Ave, Jonesboro, with Rev. Ken Stallings and Pastor Peter Kline officiating. A burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will include Gary Blakeney, Michael Floyd, John Glidewell, Ross Glidewell, Tim Glidewell, and Sid Banks. Honorary pallbearers will include Scott Glidewell, Christopher Armstrong, Owen Stallings, Clayton Armstrong, and Greg Crocker.
A visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 am.
