Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 13, 2024 – School starts back in about a month, and there’s a lot that kids will need to get ready. Supplies and clothes, sure, but what about a back-to-school haircut? For free?
Put August 18th on the calendar, because that’s the day for the Back-to-School Cuts for Kids event sponsored by the Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma. The men of Nu Tau Sigma work hard to live by the motto “Culture for Service, Service for Humanity”.
President Ralo Brown told JRN that they had the event last year in a single location and it was huge. “We had an unbelievable turnout, and so we wanted to create something bigger, and have more room, to serve more people.”
This year, the event grows to two indoor locations: the Shop Local Park Event Center (Farville Curve) and the NE Arkansas School of Barbering on Gee Street.

The event starts at both locations at 11am and goes until 4pm, and students will get a haircut, a backpack, some school supplies and a meal. Parents and caregivers can enjoy the food, but the haircuts and supplies will just be for the students.
No appointment needed. First come, first served. Brown reminds, “We are a fraternity, so we’re trying to help grow young men, but it’s open to any person that’s of school age Kindergarten to 16 years old.”
There’s a card that you can buy for $20 that supports the event…and gets you a discount at Gearhead Outfitters, Gamble Home Furnishings, The Vitamin Shoppe and Jonesboro Sports Cards.
Get the cards from any member of Phi Beta Sigma or go to the link on the Nu Tau Sigma Instagram or Facebook page.
