Frances Lora Edwards passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, in Searcy, Arkansas. Born on March 13, 1933, in Mayfield, Kentucky, Frances lived a full and vibrant life. Among her many interests, Frances was an avid player of board and card games. Her competitive nature was always in good spirit, and she earned the affectionate title of “Checker Champion.” She enjoyed fishing with her family and friends. A gifted cook, Frances loved nothing more than to feed others. She poured her love into every dish she made, and her table was always an open invitation to anyone in need of a hearty meal. Frances was a devoted member of Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church, where her faith was nurtured and where she nurtured the faith of others.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ethal Hobbs; husband, Avery Edwards; and two sons, Michael Dachs and Richard Dachs.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Mills (Glenn) of Bebee, Arkansas; sons, David Dachs (Tracy) of Minot, North Dakota; and Jim Dachs (Cindy) of Jackson, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Sharon Dachs of Paragould; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 11, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Bro. Royce Boling officiating. Burial will be private.
Jeremy Dachs, Josh Dachs, Jake Dachs, Ben Dachs, Chris Rose, Tommy Rose, and Raymond Hobbs will serve as honorary pallbearers.
