Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 23, 2024 – The fourth annual Onyx Ledger Memorial 5K took place Saturday.
The run honors the memory of Onyx Ledger, who was born prematurely and didn’t survive. He was the son of DariAne Lewis who began the 5K, along with her husband Trae, as a memorial event for their son and to help raise awareness for families facing similar tragedies.
This year’s 5K included 80 runners and walkers aged four to 73 years old. The fastest time was just under 19 minutes.
Lewis is the vice president of the nonprofit, Local MPact which aids families experiencing the loss of a baby. The nonprofit cares for these families by helping with specific needs ranging from headstones, memorials or even direct care such as hot meals and listening ears. Local MPact aims to bridge the gap for families as they navigate their own grief.
