Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – October 26, 2024 – Former Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin has made it clear: “I will not make a public endorsement for Jonesboro Mayor.”

Perrin placed an ad in Saturday’s The Sun. The ad included the messaging, “I am a private citizen now, I vote for the candidates I prefer, I have NOT made a public endorsement, I will NOT make a public endorsement for Jonesboro Mayor.”

Perrin served 12 years as Jonesboro’s Mayor from 2009-2020. He did not seek re-election in 2020 due to a health issue.

Perrin’s ad may have been in response to an ad placed in The Sun’s October 23, 2024 edition by current mayoral candidate L.J. Bryant. The ad was headlined “It’s Time for Cope to Go!” The ad included a photo of Perrin and a quoted message from Jonesboro resident Wes Abernathy.

JRN spoke to Bryant Saturday and asked the candidate if the ad was intentionally designed to suggest that Perrin was endorsing him. “Not at all,” Bryant responded. “It was simply to use a supporter’s comparison of a really good leader to one that has done very little to improve our city. Mayor Perrin told me personally that he could not be involved in this campaign.”
