Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – August 11, 2024 – The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas was awarded a $10,000 grant by the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation to fund the Fresh Produce Program initiative.
This initiative will provide 33,300 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for those at risk of hunger. The Food Bank will deliver produce via two methods: a mobile pantry distribution in Craighead County on August 7th, 2024, in conjunction with A-State Alpha Gamma Delta sorority member volunteers, and as part of regular food distribution via our partner agencies. This initiative, made possible by this generous grant, will enable the Food Bank to supply vital and nutritious produce to community members in Craighead County.
Thanks to this grant, the Food Bank can continue their mission to combat food insecurity by offering high-quality, fresh produce to those in need. The Food Bank is deeply grateful for the support that makes these essential efforts possible, ensuring that the community has access to the nutritious food necessary for healthy living. The Food Bank is proud to work with the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation to fight hunger.
“We’re proud to recognize this organization as one who shows up every day to fight food insecurity head on,” Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation CEO Julie Waitman states. “The importance of fighting hunger organizations cannot be overstated, and we’re committed to stand alongside them.”
During the 2023-24 fiscal year (June 1, 2023-May 31, 2024), the Foundation awarded $275,000 to 40 organizations across the U.S. and Canada fighting hunger in their communities. This grant marks $1.795 million awarded by the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation in its efforts to help fight hunger since 2017.
