Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 25, 2025 — As part of its Young Artist Theatre (YAT) summer camp season, children ages 7-11 will take to the Foundation of Arts stage in a reimagined musical of the Disney movie “101 Dalmatians.”

The show, which will run Aug. 1-3, is presented by Inspire Internet and directed by DayDay Robinson with Ella Scott serving as assistant director.

“In ‘101 Dalmatians Kids,’ the beloved Disney classic comes to life as Pongo and Perdita set out on a daring mission to rescue their stolen puppies from the evil Cruella De Vil,” a summary on the FOA website read. “When their litter of Dalmatian pups is kidnapped along with dozens of others, the brave dogs rally the animals of London to help track down the culprits and bring the puppies home. With its memorable characters, playful humor, and high-energy songs, this fast-paced musical adventure celebrates teamwork, loyalty, and the power of standing up to what’s wrong—no matter your size.”

Audiences can expect to see their favorite characters from the animated film, as well as new, original songs.

“It’s hard to pick a favorite song, but if I had to choose, I’d say ‘Twilight Bark,’” Robinson said. “That said, every song in this show is so catchy, I catch myself humming all of them.”

Robinson described the show as “fast-paced, fun and heartwarming.”

“Seeing it live brings a whole new energy, you feel the excitement in the room, you see the creativity in how the story is told and you get to experience these kids bringing beloved characters to life right in front of you,” Robinson said. “It’s interactive, charming and so much fun for the whole family.”

In the FOA’s Young Artist Theatre camps, campers come together to experience what it is like being a part of a real theatre cast, learning theatre and dance techniques from professionals. The camp culminates in live performances on the Forum stage.

“I’m an educator at heart, so my favorite part is seeing the campers try something new or the look on their faces when they nail a piece of choreography or a song,” Robinson said. “That moment of pride is priceless. This is also my first time working with the FOA as a director, and I’ve been blown away by this creative team and production staff. Everyone is wearing so many hats, and yet the environment is so collaborative and supportive. It makes the process a joy… My assistant director, Ella Scott, was truly an integral part of building this show.”

Robinson said programs like this are beneficial to children because they help educate them in ways that go “beyond the classroom.”

“Being in a show teaches socialization, memorization, empathy, and how to interact with the world around them,” Robinson said. “Working through a scene or a song teaches kids problem-solving skills and how to think on their feet. These programs give them tools that last long after the show closes.”

Stephanie Epps, executive director of the Foundation of Arts, said more camps are on the way, as well as the beginning of the FOA’s ’25-’26 season and year-round classes.

“These camps are a great way for students to experience the process of being part of a show,” Epps said. “If someone has been considering year-round classes or auditioning for a bigger production, this is a perfect opportunity to try it out without a longer-term commitment.”

If interested in more long-term opportunities, the FOA offers year-round classes in dance, theatre and art, with prices starting at $80 per month.

“We have an amazing tuition assistance program available to help families with that cost as needed,” Epps said. “We never want a family’s budget to be what keeps them from arts education.”

Epps invited anyone interested in participating in the FOA to come to its open house event Aug. 23.

“We’ll have lots of demos in which students can participate, teachers available to answer questions, refreshments, tours of our newly updated facility and On Pointe dance apparel on site with discounts available,” she said.
