On July 17th a group of cars was spotted loitering in the parking lot of Valley View Schools. As police entered the parking lot, all of the vehicles began to flee. One vehicle, a lime green charger, fled at a high rate of speed.

After a short pursuit, Police lost sight of the vehicle after it turned onto Culberhouse.

A short time later, a subject went to the Police Department on Caraway Road to report that he was a passenger in the vehicle that fled.

The report states “Victim #1 advised that while he was sitting in Suspect #1 vehicle, he got in and accelerated at a high rate of speed out of the parking lot
with him inside the vehicle. While trying to understand why they were leaving, he saw my emergency lights. Victim #1 went on to state that he asked Suspect #1 multiple times to let him out of the vehicle, but he would not comply with his requests.”

The passenger also stated that the car was going 120 miles per hour before turning into a neighborhood off of Culberhouse. The passenger explained that he heard that the driver’s mother would be reporting the lime green charger as stolen per the driver’s request.

The driver’s mother did contact police to report the vehicle as stolen. After being confronted about the situation, she ended up telling police that she knew the car wasn’t stolen but instead her son had fled from officers. She then told police that her son was outside in her vehicle and was ready to face the consequences of his actions.

The juvenile driver was taken into custody and juvenile probation was contacted. The suspect was transported to the Craighead County Juvenile Detention Center.

Listed charges on the report include fleeting, endangering the welfare of a minor, driving while license cancelled, suspended, or revoked, reckless driving, running a stop sign, improper passing, driving left of center, speeding more than 15 over, and false imprisonment.
