Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 13, 2025 – The first of three Community Discussions on the monuments for the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Trail will start tonight.

Tonight’s discussion will start at 6 p.m. at New St John Missionary Baptist Church, located at 308 N. Main St.

The meeting will be to receive public input for the monuments to be placed along the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Trail.

The MLK Freedom Trail project is an initiative with Jonesboro Parks and Recreation. With the help of the A-State Department of Art + Design, artists and historians from Arkansas State University are helping to create four sculptures along the upcoming trail to commemorate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and people and events in local civil rights movements.

Upcoming meetings will include Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. and Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at New St. John Baptist Church. Watch this Monuments Project video to learn more.
