Paragould, AR (JonesboroRightNow.com) – November 14, 2023 – First National Bank, deeply committed to the community it has served since 1889, unveiled its ambitious “Home.” initiative on Tuesday, aimed at rejuvenating its downtown Paragould campus and its surrounding areas.
In a significant step towards this endeavor, the bank announced a pioneering public-private partnership with the City of Paragould to refurbish the historic 100-year-old “Power Plant” facility situated on East Poplar Street in downtown Paragould. With a generous investment of $2 million from First National Bank, the plant will undergo a transformation into a distinctive event venue. In recognition of its contribution, the bank will secure naming rights to the facility, which will be known as The Station powered by First National Bank upon completion.
Originally constructed as a pump house for City, Light, and Water in 1923, the Power Plant evolved over the years, serving as the town’s generator and providing power to the city. The revitalized venue, boasting auditorium/theater-style seating for over 700 people or banquet-style accommodations for nearly 500, will also feature an outdoor amphitheater with lawn seating and dressing rooms, facilitating a variety of festivals, entertainment events, and community gatherings.
Paragould Mayor Josh Agee hailed the partnership as historic, representing a monumental moment for the city’s future. He emphasized the collaborative effort between the city and the bank, highlighting it as the largest financial commitment ever received by Paragould, paving the way for a revitalized downtown landscape.
In addition to The Station, First National Bank unveiled conceptual plans for a comprehensive redesign and investment in its downtown Paragould campus. The bank will renovate its customer service office, enhance its interior, and create more green spaces to improve traffic flow and accessibility.
Chairman Will Brewer reaffirmed the bank’s deep ties to downtown Paragould, expressing pride in its 134-year history and its continued dedication to the community. The investment, he stressed, signifies more than just a building; it is a testament to the bank’s commitment to giving back to its roots.
With 23 locations across Arkansas and Tennessee and a total asset size of $2.3 billion, First National Bank remains steadfast in its mission to serve its communities while honoring its rich legacy.
