Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – October 13, 2024 – Early voting in the City of Jonesboro mayor’s race begins Monday, October 21 in advance of the General Election November 5. Exactly seven days before voting begins the four mayoral candidates will assemble for a two-hour debate.

The live two-hour debate will be broadcast Monday night at 7pm on K8-ABC, the K8 News app, and streaming platforms. The debate will also be broadcast on 104.9FM “The Fox” radio station as part of K8’s partnership with the Jonesboro Radio Group.

Veteran news anchor Diana Davis will serve as moderator for the debate, which will be held in the main news studios at KAIT. “We went through a complete run-through this past Tuesday,” said Hatton Weeks, KAIT Vice President/General Manager Hatton Weeks. “The candidates will be set-up in front of our large news set monitor screen. Diana will be placed in front of the windows looking into our newsroom.”

Questions and topics for the debate have been gathered mostly from within the news staff. Television viewers and radio listeners have been given the opportunity to submit suggestions for questions on social media. There will be additional opportunities to submit questions during Monday night’s debate.

“KAIT has a long and storied tradition of broadcasting local political debates,” Weeks said. “It’s our civic duty to make sure voters see and hear the candidates for this important office.”
