Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 3, 2024 – According to JPD, misdemeanor and felony fleeing incidents have totaled 88 this year. This number doesn’t include fleeing incidents reported in the county.
Craighead County Deputies reported a Felony Fleeing incident on Highway 463. The probable cause affidavit states that Mark Griffey was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on a motorcycle.
Deputies positioned themselves behind the motorcycle at which time the driver began driving in the oncoming lane of traffic. Deputies attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but Griffey began driving at speeds over 100mph when deputies lost sight of him.
A short time later, a deputy observed Griffey take the exit onto I-555. They initiated another traffic stop and were successful at taking Guffey into custody.
He went before Judge Boling on Monday and was given a $5,000 c/s bond.
In another fleeing incident, JPD reported that several suspects fled from a routine traffic stop on Tuesday.
The report lists a 19-year-old male, a 29-year-old male, a 23-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male as the occupants of the vehicle. An officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle when they refused to stop. Other officers responded to assist in the “pursuit” when the driver of the vehicle parked the vehicle and “bailed out” on foot.
A K9 officer was called to the scene to attempt a track, but was unsuccessful.
One of the passengers was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia based on evidence that officers found in the vehicle. Another passenger was cited for possession, served a prior warrant, and released.
The driver of the vehicle was eventually identified as 23-year-old Johnny Johnson, but was not found on scene at the time.
