Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 28, 2025 — The Family Crisis Center will be honoring Purple Thursday and Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October with its “Voices of Courage: An Evening with Kit” event.

The event will feature a free community screening of the award-winning HBO documentary “Private Violence” and will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A. Kit Gruelle, a recognized survivor, advocate, educator and expert, and subject and adviser of the documentary, will be present at the event.

For nearly 40 years, Gruelle has trained criminal justice professionals, healthcare providers, clergy, educators, and communities across the country to better understand and respond to domestic violence and gender-based harm.

Purple Thursday, observed on the third Thursday in Domestic Violence Awareness Month, is a national day of action. On this day, people wear purple to show their support for domestic violence survivors and to raise awareness about the issue.
