Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 12, 2024 – Jonesboro Police responded to a home in the Fairview Addition subdivision Friday after a caller phoned E911 Dispatch alleging possible violence that had already occurred or was about to occur.
A heavy police presence was reported near the 3000 block of Dayton after a male caller claimed he had shot a number of people in and outside the residence and threatened to shoot anyone who responded.
JPD responded to the scene with multiple officers, including the Hostage Negotiation Team, and EMS, Fire, and other police agencies. The entire Fairview Addition (Dayton, Fairview, Fairfield, Brazos, etc.) was closed to thru traffic.
As officers set-up to deal with the situation, another call was placed to E911. The caller allegedly threatened to “shoot the natural gas line” at the home.
Within a short period of time officers breached the door of the home, made entry, and “cleared the home” finding no one and no threat present.
JPD declared the situation a “false call.” An investigation into who made the call is ongoing.
There is a large police presence on the east end of Jonesboro near the intersection of Red Wolf and Highland. Police tell JRN that there is reportedly a barricaded suspect in a house with a weapon. Unknown if there is anyone else in the home.
The neighborhood homes surrounding the area are being evacuated at this time.
