Brookland, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 20, 2024 – Monday morning around 8:50am, Jonesboro E911 center received notification of a Shooting Incident at Brookland Schools. After a brief (but serious) all-hands-on-deck response to the school, they advised it was a false alarm.

Kevin Foust, Brookland SRO, told JRN that their system notified dispatch that there was a threat when there was not. Their security team immediately notified dispatch that there was no threat and that all units could disregard.

Within a very short period of time the school’s RAVE System made automated calls to parents informing them of what had happened.  This audio file is an example of such a call, left as a voicemail on a parent’s iPhone.

Brookland High School made a Facebook Post about the incident: “The school went into a temporary lockdown with a malfunction of our RAVE System signaling an active shooter. The police responded within seconds and discovered it was a malfunction. All students and staff are safe and there was NO active shooter. We are in contact with the company that provides our system to explain and correct.”
