Elmer Harold Pankey, of Trumann departed this life Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Flo and Phil Hospice of Jonesboro at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 28 days. He was born December 4, 1934 in Lake City, AR to the late Elmer and Bessie Brownfield Pankey. He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church, a US army veteran, produce aficionado and retired furniture maker factory worker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Pankey, his parents, brother Charles Pankey and sister Loraine Gilless.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelia (Chris) Smith of Jacksonville, FL; son Scot Pankey of Houston, TX; two sisters, Norma Conatser of Trumann, Shirley Wrinkle of Grand Blanc, MI; three grandchildren, Brandie Cole, Cameron McCarty, Breah Adams and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 5th from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 1:30 with the Larry Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.
